I started a WordPress blog and a Blogger blog at approximately the same time. (Here is the link to my first post about this experiment, if you care to follow the plot). Along with plenty of other errors and bad judgment calls, I named both blogs the same thing. *facepalm*
Then I joined a daily blogging challenge, which seriously tested my blogging skills but also forced me to go deeper on both platforms. Yes, not one to dip my toe in the water, I plunged right in. I over-enthusiastically signed up both (same named) blogs for the A to Z Blogging Challenge. As I hacked and miss-stepped and clumsily pushed forward, I learned a lot.
Before I give my final conclusion, I’d like to make a few things clear: I am technologically challenged, I gravitate towards the intuitive and easy, I want my blog to be easy (to read and to navigate), I don’t like to read instructions, I want my blog to look good, I want to know what people find interesting,
As I said before and still believe, there are pros and cons to each. If I was king of the world, I’d combine the best of both and have a goldmine perfect blogging platform. Still, after 30+ posts on both WordPress and Blogger, I favor Blogger overall.
I think wordpress probably has some cool stuff but the ease of use with blogger makes it my choice. I am lazy. I think google knows that. Although both platforms see, far from perfect. Very far.

Blogger is certainly easier - thank you for confirming that for me :)
ReplyDeleteNearly everyone I know who has tried both prefers Blogger. I'm pleased I'm with Blogger and other than the occasional blip (which is now completely corrected) I think it's excellent, especially considering it's free!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Blogger. I have had a couple blogs on other sites (now defunct) and Blogger beats them all. Never tried Wordpress altho I have thought about it awhile. Thank you for your review, I think I'll stick with Blogger!
ReplyDeleteI don´t really like Blogger because I love having more control over the design. However, I must admit you´ve done a great job customising this blog. Congratulation!
ReplyDeleteI have never tried Wordpress, although I've heard wonderful things about it. Blogger has worked just fine for me. I have no idea how you keep up with all your blogs!
ReplyDeleteI favor Blogger too, but mostly because I can monetize it, though only with Adsense, because Amazon won't allow Illinoisans to make money from them. Blogger just seems to be easier to navigate (for me anyway).
ReplyDeleteFound your blog on the A-Z challenge list. I'm one of those STILL hopping. Happy to follow a fellow writer!
ReplyDeleteIf word press is harder to navigate that blogger then I better steet clear. Thanks for testing the waters...think I'll stick with blogger!
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you found a blogging platform that you liked during your experiment. I agree that Wordpress is not easy to use because the features and options, bells and whistles that Wordpress has going on makes it a huge task to get up a blog post whereas Blogger is simpler with regards to ease of use.
ReplyDeleteWhile I have enjoyed using Blogger for many years, I plan on moving to a self-hosted platform after experiencing a setback in blogging due to the maintenance issues that Blogger had last month that placed the system in read-only mode, and delayed thousands, if not millions of bloggers from getting up a new post.
I won't use Wordpress but have considered Typead and other services.
The Madlab Post
I did the exact same thing...same name, double blogging etc. but I prefer Wordpress. Now I'm back struggling with Blogger again since I'm contributing to Bluebell Books. My computer doesn't seem to like Blogger.
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting argument that has proponents on both sides who are ardent about their favorite. I'm glad to hear about your findings. I'm happy with Blogger and don't plan on changing. I don't like to comment on Wordpress, although I do follow many blogs that use that platform.

Tossing It Out
I've had sooooooo many problems with Blogger, some last for many months ( my blog was unusable!) and they don't seem to ever help. I liked blogger because you can easily change the design without having to pay unlike Word Press but I had a small problem once with word press & they immediately helped me & fixed the problem. Some say Blogger is better for SEO but I feel they are about the same.
